How to make buleryan:

  1. Take a 57 mm pipe and bend it with a special pipe bender.
  2. Trim the bent pipe to 1.2 m.
  3. Bend the pipe 100 mm. As a result, there should be 8 pipes of 4 pieces each with identical bends. It turns out that the depth of the stove will be approximately 456 mm.
  4. Make a T-shaped pipe elbow. It will be located behind the stove and perform a double function - to remove gases and collect condensate (smoke will come from the upper end, and water will drip from the lower end).
  5. Use a faucet to plug the bottom of the pipe from where water will drip. Thus, when condensation accumulates, you can place a container under the pipe, open the tap and drain the water.

  6. Insert the damper into the outlet. It will allow you to regulate the traction force and control the fuel burning rate.

  7. Install a similar part in the ash tray on the front door.

  8. To securely fix and adjust the dampers, it is recommended to install a high-quality, powerful spring. It will press the damper inside the pipe, preventing it from opening accidentally. The travel of the dampers must be clearly set at 90°.
  9. From the 350x4 pipe, cut two pieces 40 mm long. Cut the seam and turn the piece outward. Insert a 40x40 tire into the resulting gap. As a result, you will get 2 rings that fit into each other. This part is needed to construct the lid of the buleryan.

  10. Install the second ring on the front side of the oven.

  11. Weld the rings using the larger one for the door.
  12. Make a third ring 40 mm long and 2 mm thick - it will fit into the ring on the door. Fill the remaining space between the parts with asbestos.

  13. It is very important to ensure that the door is completely sealed so that gas is generated and natural circulation air.

  14. Air movement will be carried out through pipes, but this will only happen if it is completely sealed. It also wouldn’t hurt to attach seals to the door. Make small slits in the first two pipes and insert injection pipes into them. They are needed for communication with the fuel compartment and more intense combustion.
  15. Weld a frame from bent pipes. Pipes with injection parts will be placed first, then the rest.

  16. Make partitions from thick 6 mm furnace iron. Cut out the blanks using a template or pattern.

  17. Use a welding machine to treat the space between the convection pipes.

  18. The lock on the door is a classic eccentric that is fixed to the wall and presses the door. It is very difficult to make it, and to do it well, you need to have a lathe. If you don't have one, you can create detailed drawing and order the part from the workshop.

Two such strips of metal need to be welded to the door itself, one along the very edge, the other should be inside at some distance from the first. If everything is done in accordance with the drawings, then the “collar” on the front wall will fit exactly into the gap between the edges of the door.

It is recommended to lay asbestos rope in this space to ensure maximum tightness when closing the door. Now you need to weld its inner part to the door, as well as the hinges on one side and the eccentric latch on the other.

  • Hydraulic or manual pipe bender;
  • Welding machine;
  • Angle grinder for cutting steel;
  • Grinding disc for correcting welds.
  • Pipe with a diameter of 60 mm for the manufacture of a convector (heater) - the drawing shows pipes with a diameter of 50 mm, but then the convection will not be so intense. In this case, we advise you to focus on the area of ​​the heated room;
  • Sheet steel with a thickness of at least 4 mm - from this we will cut intermediate plates, as well as the front and rear walls;
  • Chimney pipe with a diameter of 100-130 mm;
  • Metal pipe to create a choke (blower) on the loading door;
  • Hinges for the loading door, as well as secure lock with a safety handle for opening and closing;
  • Materials for creating a slide damper - another handle with a small piece of sheet steel to block the chimney clearance;
  • Metal pipe with a diameter of 15 mm for injection pipes.

An asbestos cord is also useful to seal the door. Don't forget to pick up good electrodes for welding metal parts.

You will also need thick cardboard, from which it is very convenient to make patterns for later cutting out metal - this way you will save time and nerves. By the way, some craftsmen make Buleryan stoves with their own hands from a square pipe. It turns out a little scary, but overall it works.

First steps

First, we need to make the frame of our entire Buleryan stove - it is an interweaving of curved pipes that form an air heater and the future firebox. Use a pipe bender and bend them to a radius of 225 mm. The length of each pipe is 120 cm - this is more than enough. The pipes are welded together with metal strips to create a stable base for our stove. There should be no holes on the sides, otherwise smoke will penetrate into the heated rooms.

Making an afterburner

The next stage of making a Buleryan stove with your own hands is creating an afterburner chamber. To do this, you need to take sheet iron and make partitions from it with recesses for the air heat exchanger.

Next, we weld the partitions from the inside to the pipes so as to separate about a quarter of the internal volume (or as indicated in the drawing). Please note that these partitions go to the rear wall, and they do not touch the front wall (secondary air injectors are welded into the first two pipes).

Pyrolysis products will end up here. And the combustion products will go to the back wall, where the chimney of the Buleryan stove is located.

We complete the assembly of the base

Now we need to cut from sheet iron two pieces forming the back and front walls of the Buleryan stove. But don’t rush to weld them - they still need work. In the back wall we make a hole for the chimney, focusing on the diameter of the chimney pipe.

After this, we move on to the front wall - here we need to make a hole for the insert. The door is made from a piece of pipe with a diameter of 350 mm. And here you will have to suffer.

The whole point is that the door should tightly close the inlet of the firebox. We weld a part of a pipe with a diameter of 350 mm to the front wall of our Buleryan stove, which we assemble with our own hands - it protrudes slightly, as in the picture. Next we make the door itself - it will be double-layered, inner part will go inside the loading hole, and the outer one will cover it from the outside.

We make a hole in the door of the Buleryan stove for the choke. Its dimensions are indicated in our drawing. It is a small section of pipe in which a damper rotates on a metal loop - it should completely block the gap. To prevent the loop from rotating under its own weight, we press it with a spring. It is also necessary to make a reliable lock to secure the loading door.

Fiddling with doors, throttles and dampers when assembling a Buleryan stove with your own hands is the most problematic, because working with small parts is always more difficult than working with large ones. But if your hands grow from there, you will cope with the task relatively quickly.

Making a chimney

If you think that the chimney for the Buleryan stove, assembled with your own hands, is a piece of pipe, then you are completely wrong. We will make a T-shaped chimney with a slide damper for our stove.

Unlike a throttle, the gap here is not completely blocked, but only 3/4 of the maximum diameter of the chimney - this is exactly the damper that will need to be cut out and installed in the outlet (horizontal) pipe.

We weld a vertical section to the horizontal chimney pipe of the Buleryan stove. Smoke will escape through its upper part, and condensation will accumulate in the lower part (it will definitely happen). To make getting rid of it more convenient, weld it to the bottom ball valve. Just one movement of the hand - and all the accumulated condensate will drain into a previously placed container, as we promised earlier.

Final stage

By the way, our DIY Buleryan stove is almost assembled. We already have:

  • Main body with air heater;
  • Two walls with doors and a throttle;
  • Chimney with throttle valve.

It's time to weld all the components into a single whole. Once again we make sure that the seams between the metal plates and the convection pipes are tight, and then we proceed to install the front and rear doors.

Remember that the afterburner should be located in the upper rear part - do not mix it up.

After welding the walls, we check the fresh seams. At the next stage, we arm ourselves with an angle grinder and carefully grind the seams to make them more neat. Finally, we connect the chimney and begin painting the Buleryan stove using heat-resistant paint. Part of it will subsequently burn (for example, on the front door), but the upper part will remain intact, since convector pipes do not heat up to the highest temperatures.

The final stage includes the installation of a self-assembled Buleryan stove on a metal or brick pedestal. Optimal height the location of the lower part of the convection pipes is 20-25 cm from the floor level. Next, we install the chimney and load firewood into the firebox. At the first stage of ignition, the throttle and gate valve are fully open - the firewood should ignite completely. After this, we close the gate valve and the throttle, which is why the Buleryan stove will switch to the pyrolysis combustion mode.

Adjustment of the combustion intensity is carried out using the throttle and slide valves - here you will need a little practice to achieve optimal results. In addition, you can upgrade the Buleryan stove, assembled with your own hands:

  • Convert the air heat exchanger into a water heat exchanger and connect it to heating system– you will get a powerful, productive wood-burning boiler;
  • Connect the convector inputs with a pipe and connect a powerful blower fan here. Similarly, combine the outputs of the heat exchanger and connect to them flexible pipes and distribute heat to neighboring rooms - you get an air heating system;
  • Install the Buleryan stove in small room(the size of a toilet) and from this room distribute pipes with hot air to other rooms - another way to organize air heating.

It may take you up to several days to make a Buleryan stove with your own hands, but overall the results should please you.

Roughly speaking, it consists of a firebox, to which a series of bent tubes are connected. This design allows you to burn wood and other types of solid fuel with very high efficiency. Although the design of such a stove is somewhat more complicated than that of a conventional potbelly stove, many craftsmen have managed to make a buleryan with their own hands.

How does this design work?

Buleryan can be called a very successful hybrid of a potbelly stove and wood stove long burning. The device operates using the principle of forced convection. A series of curved tubes are connected to the firebox at the top and bottom. Cold air enters the lower openings, which quickly heats up since the pipes are in direct contact with the firebox. Hot air enters the rooms through the upper openings. Its temperature is so high that it allows you to heat not only one specific room, but even two-story house. There is also the possibility of combining the Buleryan stove with a water heating circuit. At the same time, the surface of the device itself remains not too hot and does not pose a danger to others.

Thanks to a number of simple adjustment devices, the oven can operate in two modes. First, the stove heats up quickly, and then the resulting heat is evenly distributed throughout the room. At the second stage, the oven switches to slow burning mode. In the beginning, fuel needs to be added quite often, but once the stove warms up, the firebox can be loaded only twice a day, i.e. every 12 hours.

Firewood burns in the firebox, and the products of this process flow through convection pipes into the secondary combustion chamber. Here the gas-air mixture is burned at very high temperatures, which provides the device with an efficiency of around 80%. Next, the hot air is distributed throughout the room through convection pipes.

To successfully make such a stove yourself, you should first study its structure. This is an all-metal structure consisting of a firebox and a number of bent metal tubes adjacent to it. There is a door in front through which fuel is loaded, as well as a power control device with which you can change combustion modes. A secondary combustion chamber is equipped in the firebox and a pipe is installed under the chimney.

To increase the efficiency of using the Buleryan stove, it is recommended to thoroughly insulate the chimney, for example, with a layer of mineral wool at least 3 mm thick.

Of course, you will need a blower through which the air necessary for combustion of the fuel will enter the firebox. You can arrange a small ash pit, although the process of slow burning produces almost no waste. The double rear wall makes the device even more efficient. Some models use a two-layer casing for this.

Step-by-step manufacturing instructions

To make a Buleryan oven with your own hands, you need to stock up metal pipes with an outer diameter of about 50-60 mm, as well as sheet metal. To endure high temperature combustion, it is recommended to use steel sheets with a thickness of 4-6 mm. Besides welding machine and a standard set of tools you will also need a pipe bender.

  1. Production of bent pipe sections.
  2. Manufacturing of a device for smoke removal and condensate collection.
  3. Manufacturing of dampers for vent and outlet.
  4. Making a door for the combustion chamber.
  5. Weld a frame of bent pipes and install a partition in it.
  6. Welding metal sheets in the space between pipes.
  7. Installation of a door with a lock.
  8. Manufacturing and welding of metal legs.

Eight identical sections, about 1.2 m long, should be cut from the pipe. Using a pipe bender, they are bent with a radius of 225 mm and placed in a checkerboard pattern.

To remove smoke, as well as accumulated moisture, a T-shaped device is made, through which the smoke will go up into the pipe, and the moisture will flow down. The most difficult element of a homemade Buleryan is, perhaps, the front door. It should close almost hermetically. The better the door fits to the stove, the more efficiently Buleryan works.

From the pipe large diameter two rings are made that fit almost tightly into each other. To do this, cut two 40 mm pieces from a pipe with a diameter of 350 mm. One of the segments is cut and unfolded. After this, the front side of the stove is made using a ring of smaller diameter.

In the front wall of the furnace it is necessary to make round hole, to which a metal ring is welded. This element is necessary to ensure that the door closes as tightly as possible.

The second ring is used when installing the door; it is welded to a circle of sheet metal.

Two metal rings, the diameter of which is slightly different, are welded along the edge of the oven door. They are sealed with a special gasket made of asbestos cord

Then another ring is welded onto the door, which should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the ring placed on the front side of the stove. A sealing asbestos cord is placed in the gap formed between the door rings and the damper is mounted.

Now we should return to the bent pipes. It is necessary to make holes in the first two pipes and weld injection tubes into them. These are small metal elements with a diameter of 14-15 mm and a length of about 150 mm. They are necessary to ensure the connection of the convection elements with the firebox.

Special injectors should be inserted into the first two hollow pipes of the furnace, which will ensure air contact with the combustion chamber

A stove frame with a partition is made from pipes. For the partition, it is recommended to use sheet steel at least 6 mm thick.

For the furnace partition, steel 6 mm thick is used. To avoid having to “guess” with the dimensions, first make cardboard patterns

After this, the gaps between the pipes should be closed with strips of sheet metal, and the back wall should be welded, thus forming the furnace body.

The furnace body is formed from pieces of metal, which are welded in the space between the hollow pipes. Cardboard patterns are also useful for making them.

In order to accurately cut out the elements of the partition, back wall and strip of metal, it is recommended to first make cardboard patterns.

It is recommended to make a special lock for the door. It is an eccentric that fixes metal loop located on the wall of the stove. With further scrolling, this device ensures the tightest possible fit of the door to the stove. To make such a device, you will need to perform a number of turning and milling operations.
