  6. Next, you need to carefully lay the wire like a snake, without pulling it. Matches will help you form the heating element. After five to seven turns of wire have been laid, you will need to secure them with paper strips. Paper 1 cm thick and Monolith glue can be used to fix the filament.
  7. After the matches are removed, the edges of the snake will also need to be secured with strips of paper.
  8. Metal rivets must be inserted into the holes intended for the power cable, onto which the end of the snake should then be wound.
  9. Finally, you need to attach a washer to the rivet on the outside of the heater, which is needed in order to securely fix the contact.

The power cord can also be connected inside the heater, next to the filament coil, for which it is necessary to strip the ends of the electrical wire and wind them around the inside of the heater with rivets.

You can take the radiator even with partially clogged pipes; this will not prevent it from working. Instead of a car radiator, you can take a radiator from any industrial refrigeration unit. The electric motor used has a power of approximately 0.3-0.8 kW and ensures a rotation speed of at least 1500 rpm.

The basis of the heater is a frame, which is welded from a steel angle. In order to be able to move the heater, it is more convenient to place it on wheels made of any rollers that are mounted on the frame. The engine, water pump, starter and radiator are mounted on the frame. Three heating elements are placed in the lower radiator tank, each with a power of 1 kW, operating at a voltage of 220 V. The best option would be a triple heating element, which has a common threaded shank. The heating element is secured in different ways, for example, you can cut a hole in the lower tank and solder a threaded ring for the shank of the heating element to its edge.

To set the electric heater to the most efficient mode (at a liquid temperature in the radiator of 80 ° C), the diameters of the pulleys are selected. To compensate for the expansion of the liquid when heated, the installation uses a car expansion tank.

A more complex version of the electric heater design allows you to maintain the set temperature. To do this, it is enough to connect the electric motor to the network not directly, but through the chamber temperature sensor DTKB.

The most suitable electric heater fluid is transformer oil. It heats up quickly, cools very slowly and does not freeze even when the temperature drops significantly. Instead of transformer oil, you can use automotive antifreeze brand A-40.
The tension of the belt connecting the electric motor to the pump and fan can be adjusted by moving the pump and fan in the prepared mounting grooves in the frame.

Sawdust heater

Sawdust and small wood chips that remain after construction can be successfully used to heat a garage or even a country house if you install a tray made of 2-3mm thick steel sheet with a hole in the middle in a regular “potbelly stove.” The tray needs to be made removable so that when the sawdust runs out, the stove can be heated with wood again.
It is advisable to use such stoves for those who live near logging sites, where sawdust will be almost free.

The stove is used like this: a conical stake is inserted from above through the hole in the stove (it needs to be adjusted to the hole in the pan so that there is no gap). Sawdust is tightly packed into the space around the stake. Careful that they do not fall into the hole, remove the stake, close the stove and light the wood from the bottom of the tray through the stove door. The sawdust catches fire and smolders. The stove heats the room all night (5-7 hours).

Homemade garage heater with flameless combustion

The principle of its operation is that fuel vapors - alcohol or gasoline - are oxidized by atmospheric oxygen using a catalyst. This happens directly on the heating element. Thermal energy is not produced by the combustion of fuel, but by a chemical reaction that occurs.

This DIY garage heater it's done like this. Take a fuel tank that has a neck and a plug. An old car fuel tank is best suited for this. Next is the burner, into which the heating element is placed - a frame and two iron meshes - equip them with a gasket, preferably made of asbestos wool, impregnate it with a catalyst. Make the wick made of cloth or you can also use asbestos wool. It will supply gasoline from the tank to the burner. Place the upper part of your wick evenly under the mesh, and place the lower part at the bottom of the tank. Fill the free space in the tank with cotton wool.

When installing the heating element into the burner, place a wire gasket (5 mm cross-section) between the frame and its installation location. Wrap the wire with corded asbestos. This DIY garage heater should have a metal cover that fits over the top of the burner, thereby stopping it from working.
Pour 100 ml of gasoline onto the heating element grid and set it on fire. Soon the fire will go out, and gasoline vapors from the tank will begin to leak to the heated surface. Because of the oxygen in the air, with the help of a catalyst, they will begin to oxidize and increase the temperature. That is, flameless combustion will begin to occur.

The heating element is made of long-fiber asbestos. It must be impregnated with a cobalt-chrome catalyst for 1 hour. It is made from the following reagents - cobalt and manganese nitrates, ammonium chloride and ammonia (concentrated). During impregnation, cobalt chromate will settle on asbestos. It will need to be dried at +120 C, loosened, and calcined at + 400 C for 3 hours. Then lay the mixture in an even layer between the meshes.

Important! When operating this heater, protect its working surface from oil, water and dirt.

And another option for a homemade electric heater for the garage

Solving the problem of heating a garage using homemade electric heaters with open coils is not permissible, since gasoline fumes, sometimes present in garages, and their contact with an open heating element can lead to tragic consequences. Portable industrial electric heaters are also not the best solution to the problem, since they have low heat output.

One of the effective options for heating a garage is a water-type heating system with an individual heat source. You can arrange heating in the garage using this principle yourself, after first familiarizing yourself with the diagram shown in the figure.

In this regard, the boiler must be located below the radiator (convector) - this helps to increase the speed of water movement and circulation pressure in the heating system.
