For example, a fan with a rotation speed sensor can be connected both to a motherboard that supports these sensors, and directly to the power supply. In the second case, it will be impossible to measure the speed. And if the motherboard, in principle, does not support a speed sensor, don’t connect it like a cooler, you won’t be able to measure the rotation speed.

About temperature measurement errors

The sensors in the computer are not calibrated. This means that the actual temperature may differ by several degrees. Example: the video card heats up to 60 degrees, but the limit for it is 70. However, games begin to slow down after some time. This means that the sensor clearly does not display the real temperature and overheating occurs.

Checking CPU Temperature

Depending on the processor model, the number and location of temperature sensors may differ.

Checking the motherboard temperature

Everyone's motherboard is different, the names and number of sensors vary. No sensor should exceed 50 degrees Celsius. Although in some cases 50 is already a lot.

Checking the power supply temperature

If there are sensors in the power supply, they are only for automatic control of the fan rotation speed so that it does not make noise without load.   5. The layer of thermal paste should be thin and not leak beyond the surface of the processor cover. You can’t apply too much either - if it doesn’t spread over the entire area of ​​the processor cover when it comes into contact with the heatsink, there won’t be high-quality heat dissipation.   6. Instead of thermal paste, manufacturers can use thermal pads (“thermal rubber bands,” as some call them). Cooler- this is a radiator plus a fan. This technical solution removes heat much more efficiently than if only the processor was blown fan. Coolers are usually installed on processors, video cards, and motherboard chipsets.

First, close the windows of third-party programs (including browsers), go to Open Hardware Monitor with administrator rights. If the temperature indicators are far from those given in the article, you can start.

If the indicators are almost very close to the maximum values ​​​​given above, then there is something wrong with the cooling system of your laptop.

Step two. Finding out the processor temperature


What should be the normal temperature of a computer?

The operating temperature of the processor when idle (no demanding applications are running, a browser can be opened or music can be listened to, in general the load on the processor is very small) – no more than 40-45 degrees. With an average processor load (30-60%), this temperature rises to 60-65 degrees, and maybe lower, depending on the processor and cooler. And under 100% load, the temperature can reach up to 90 or even 100 degrees, but remember that if the process remains in this state for a long time, its service life is significantly reduced.

On a note! If your processor gets very hot, not only under heavy load, then you should pay attention to a cooler that cools the processor. Either it is dusty and needs to be cleaned, or there is a simple lack of cooler resources, i.e. it simply cannot cope with the heat generated by the processor and does not have time to cool it. Step three. Find out the temperature of the video card

Still in the same AIDA64 main menu, in the “Sensors” tab, under the CPU temperature, there is the “GPU Diode” item, which shows the temperature of the GPU diode, or in common parlance – the temperature of the video card.

Like the processor, the operating temperature of the video card fluctuates depending on its load. When idle, the temperature will be around room temperature, at average load – 50-60 degrees, at full load – up to 85-90 degrees. On average, the maximum temperature of a video card is lower than that of processors, which determines the presence of at least one, or even more powerful coolers in the video card case.

It is worth noting that it is necessary to periodically monitor how hot the video card is under load, especially if you are an avid fan of games, video editing or 3D design. The closer the temperature of the video card is to critical, and the longer the video card is in this state, the shorter the lifespan of this same video card.
